George Stephanopoulos, television presenter of the network ABC News and who recently interviewed Joe Biden, He said he does not believe the Democrat in charge of the White House can serve another four years under the pressure of leading the country.
Last Friday, the nation’s president agreed to be interviewed to talk about his unfortunate participation in the debate he held against Donald Trump.
Although Biden was expected to hold a meeting for an hour and a half, as is typical of meetings with Stephanopoulos, the conversation was limited to 22 minutes, during which Biden avoided the possibility of committing to being evaluated by a cognitive expert.
At the time, the president’s interlocutor directly questioned him about whether any neurologist had examined him with the help of specific cognitive tests.
“No, nobody told me I had to do it… They said I was fine,” said the long-serving politician.
Although the 81-year-old Democrat is committed to serving a second full term if he wins the November election, George Stephanopoulos is convinced otherwise, at least that’s what he said in a controversial video obtained by TMZa site specialized in covering news related to celebrities.
The recording shows Stephanopoulos walking on the streets of New York City and a person asks him if he thought Biden should resign.
“I don’t think I can serve four more years,” the review presenter replied without hesitation.
Given how crude Stephanopoulos’ statement sounded and the reactions it could trigger, chain ABC Newsimmediately clarified that this opinion did not reflect the point of view or the position taken by the news media.
Realizing that his statement had been leaked and how it was sparking a debate on social media about the fragility of the nation’s head, The TV presenter admitted to having been carried away by his impulse to respond without measuring the impact of his words on public opinion.
“Today I answered a question from a passerby. I shouldn’t have done that,” he said through his spokesman.
The leak of the George Stephanopoulos video comes at an extremely complicated time for Joe Biden, who has already been asked by several of his own party colleagues to resign from his campaign in search of a hypothetical re-election.
