In the middle of a Movement in Congress to add voices against President Joe Biden’s re-election campaignthe Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) confirms its support for the president and Vice President Kamala Harris.

“We stand with President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris,” reads a joint statement from CHC Chair Nanette Barragán (California) and the group’s vice chair, Sen. Adriano Espaillat (New York).

Latino leaders believe that the Biden Administration has contributed to the “empowerment” of Latino populations.

Remember just last week, CHC toured with First Lady Dr. Jill Biden in Allentown, Pennsylvania, where more than 50% of the population is Latino, at events focused on investment and education.

“President Biden and his administration have worked closely with House Democrats to carry out Historic investments that positively impact communities across the country, including Latinossuch as investments to combat climate change, reduce health care costs, expand access to health care for our veterans, and create jobs with the infrastructure bill,” the message highlights.

House leaders emphasize President Biden’s proclamation that more than half a million undocumented spouses of Americans can have access to a Green Card without leaving the country.

“More recently, President Biden announced an executive action that was one of CHC’s top priorities, to protect non-citizen spouses of Americans to keep families together,” Barragán and Espaillat note.

They express their willingness to continue working together on behalf of Americans, including Latinos.

On Monday, the president Biden sent a letter to Democratic congressmen stating that he will remain in the electoral race.

Movement against Biden

Following the CNN debate, President Biden received criticism for his participation and questions about his physical and mental condition to continue the campaign.

Several Democrats in Congress have even called for Biden to withdraw, with House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries having a phone meeting with several congressmen last Sunday who called for Biden to leave the Democratic Party as the candidate.

Biden’s critics include Jerry Nadler (New York) and Jim Himes (Connecticut), but other lawmakers have rejected that position and defended the president, including Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez (New York) and Maxine Waters (California).

So far, only a few Democratic lawmakers – at least six – have joined the movement to replace President Biden as a candidate.

The criticism of President Biden was compounded by the White House’s admission that a Parkinson’s expert visited the official residence on several occasions, but claims that it was as part of the president’s regular medical check-up.
