Ana María Orozco acknowledged that her return as Betty, the ugly has been a challenge

Betty the ugly, the story continues, Premiering July 19 on Amazon Prime Video, it tells the story of the iconic Beatriz Pinzón 20 years after the original series and shows a Betty who is still married to her great love Armando Mendoza while trying to rebuild her relationship with her teenage daughter Mila and cope with the crisis of her family company.

In an interview with The opinion, The Colombian actress spoke about what it has been like for her to take on the role of Betty and her expectations for the sequel of history that conquered more than 180 countries.

Ana Maria Orozco She said she feels very comfortable reprising her role as Betty, although she admits it is also a challenge. “Re-encountering[the character]at this age, at this time, is a challenge,” said the 51-year-old actress.

“Overall, I feel comfortable doing it again. Maybe a few years ago it wouldn’t have been so easy to get back into character… Now I’m calm, happy and I feel that it’s worth it, precisely because of the time that has passed,” she added.

Regarding how she approached her character in this return, the actress said that, in addition to maintaining her essence, she wanted to incorporate new things that would nourish Betty. “Everything has happened in a very natural and organic way, we didn’t want to force it. I hope to contribute things that add to this new stage of Betty. We try to do it very carefully, observe a lot and also have fun so that she doesn’t lose that essence and humor,” she said.

The actress acknowledged that it has been a challenge to play other roles and not be pigeonholed by her role as Betty.although it is the one for which he is most recognized.

“It’s something that’s not in my hands and when things happen like that or when they happen to you, my philosophy is to accept them and receive, because as an actor one wants to do different things,” he said. “Betty is a before and after in our careers and many people identify us only with that job and at the beginning I was scared of not being able to get out of it, but over the years everything is decanted,” he added.

The actress feels she has too much to thank her character for“I feel that it has been a character that has given me a lot, from which I learned, that has so many nuances, that is so rich and so beautiful.”

On the expectations you have for Betty the ugly, the story continuesOrozco said he wants the project to do well, but he takes everything very calmly.“I am calm because we have done a delicate, careful job…It is not Betty that we already made, that one cannot be touched, it is irreplaceable (…) This is how history continues, how we are today 20 years later,” she indicated.

In addition to Ana María Orozco, other actors returning to the sequel to Betty the Ugly are Jorge Enrique Abello, Natalia Ramírez, Lorna Cepeda, Julián Arango, Mario Duarte, Marcela Posada, among many others.
