Manelyk González spoke about her time on the MTV show ‘Acapulco Shore’ and confessed that she feels ashamed of her participation in the reality show. In an interview with Anette Cuburu on YouTube, he admitted that he is not able to watch a full episode of the reality show.
It was like a shock even for us, like, ‘What is this?’ When I saw myself, I said, ‘I destroyed my life. When did I think it was a good idea?’ To this day, I can’t watch a full episode of Acapulco Shore; even though it’s been 10 years, I never watch myself, I’m dying of embarrassment.”
González remained on Acapulco Shore for seven seasons. The show is characterized by wild parties, misunderstandings and, occasionally, love affairs.
During this edition of ‘Annetteando’, Anette Cuburú questioned how a program of that style was aired and said that when she saw it for the first time she was “horrified.”
“One day I came across Acapulco Shore on television and, I’ll be very honest with you, I said, ‘Who in their right mind authorized this to be aired?’, like a scared little granny.”were the words of the presenter.
Faced with this question, the model answered “The truth is that we opened many doors to many reality shows, we removed many taboos. Suddenly now it is still a guilty pleasure because everyone has seen Acapulco Shore”.
In addition to this, she spoke about the episodes in which she appears drunk and “I’m drunk, you’re a girl, these are things that make me say ‘At what point did it occur to me that it was a good idea?’. But at that time it was a hit for people my age or even younger.”
Regarding this statement, González said that he feels a kind of “moral hangover” for everything he did during Acapulco Shore.
Manelyk as a panelist on ‘The House of the Famous’
During the fourth season of ‘La Casa de los Famosos’, Manelyk González and Anette Cuburú coincided as panelists on the reality show.
Both of them had opinions about the contestants’ participation and were able to establish a kind of friendship, which allowed them to record this episode.
However, this is not the first time that the Mexican has spoken about her time on Acapulco Shore.
In the past, she told Jordi Rosado that she preferred to be drunk while they were recording the show, as she did not feel comfortable with some of the things that were happening around her.
That’s what happened during the last few seasons, because in the first ones they were just improvising and were happy with all the adrenaline that came with being on a show like that.
“There came a time when you had to be drunk to not have a bad time, in the last seasons; because in the first one, happy… I think the success of that first season is that we didn’t have a script, we didn’t know what we were doing, we were just us.”, he emphasized.
Although her experience was not as rewarding, as Manelyk González now says, Acapulco Shore was a platform to boost her career and allowed her to be on other reality shows such as ‘Resistiré’ in 2019 and Telemundo’s ‘Los 50’.
