Mexican mayor on the run for bodyguard murder is finally captured

Emiliano Vazquez Bonillamayor of Zapotitlán, Puebla, was arrested in Mexico City for his alleged participation in the murder of the driver and bodyguard of the elected Municipal President, Salvador Tino Martínez.

The Puebla Prosecutor’s Office confirmed the arrest of the official in coordination with authorities in the country’s capital, which took place at a bus terminal.

The crime for which the mayor is being investigated occurred on June 1 in the Puente Viejo area of ​​Zapotitlán, when Ramon Malagonthe mayor-elect’s driver, was transporting members of the Labor Party to the community of Tuxtla in a van.

In a press conference on June 20, Odette Alejandra Flores Ventura, Specialized General Coordinator for the Investigation of Intentional Homicides, indicated that the alleged attackers They attacked the victims with blows and firearms.

“The conduct was mainly led by Emiliano Vázquez, his brother, and the local Secretary of Public Security,” the official explained.

The bodyguard tried to flee but was chased by the mayor and the group of peopleand later the police command transferred him to a hospital where he arrived without vital signs.

“The cause of death was hypovolemic shock secondary to penetrating thoracic trauma resulting from an injury caused by a firearm projectile,” Flores Ventura said.

The Prosecutor’s Office also requested arrest warrant against more than 30 people for this crimeand so far they have arrested at least six other people involved.
