Brazil and Uruguay will be the protagonists of the most attractive matchup of the Copa América quarter-finals. Both teams are candidates to lift the trophy. There is a lot of history at stake in this match.

There will be 24 trophies on the field at Allegiant Stadium. The Charrúas have lifted this cup on 15 occasions, while the Amazonians have done so on 9 occasions.

Contrary to what was expected, Uruguay is the big favorite in this matchup. The Charrúas come from having a perfect group stage defeat the United States, Bolivia and Panama.

For its part, La Canarinha arrives at this stage with some slips. Brazil tied in its first match against Costa Ricathen beat Paraguay and on the last day almost had to take out the calculator after drawing against Colombia.

What is the record in Copa America?

Uruguayans and Brazilians have faced each other in 26 matches in this competition. Curiously, the balance is even with 9 wins per side and 8 draws.

In the last 25 years there have only been 3 previous Copa América events. In 1999, Brazil beat Uruguay 0-3 in the final of the cup that took place in Paraguay.

In 2004, in the Copa América held in Peru, Brazil won again, but this time in the semi-finals and via penalties after a 1-1 draw (5-3 in the penalty shootout).

The last time this happened was at the Copa América in Venezuela in 2007. On this occasion, Brazil again took the victory. The Canarinha beat the Charrúas again in the semi-finals, also on penalties (4-5).

For this match that will take place at Allegiant Stadium, Uruguay arrives as the big favorite to take the victory. However, Brazil cannot be underestimated, especially if it is still injured and has been winning in recent years.
