Conmebol and Concacaf football are in constant comparison. The Copa América has been the ideal setting to measure the levels of each of the confederations. Find out what the balance has been for the regions.

Without a doubt, the South American Qualifiers were a great barometer to measure the level of the teams in this region. Looking ahead to the 2026 World Cup, the first six places in that qualifying round are as follows: Argentina, Uruguay, Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador and Brazil. Curiously, these are the six teams that are in the quarter-finals.

Conmebol placed six of its ten teams in the quarterfinals. Among these classified there are only a defeat (Ecuador’s 1-2 against Venezuela on the first day). The Conmebol teams that qualified for the quarterfinals accumulate, together, 13 wins, 3 draws and only one loss.

So far, Conmebol has met expectations and has very good representatives who can safeguard the trophy in the region, once again.

Concacaf disappointed

Usually, the great representatives of Concacaf are Mexico and the United States. In fact, these two selections had an additional load because this tournament is a preview of the 2026 World Cup. But they disappointed.

Of the six representatives of Concacaf Only two teams made it to the quarter-finals of the Copa América: Canada and Panama. Both teams qualified as second in their group.

In general terms, the representatives of this confederation obtained 6 victories, 3 draws and 9 defeats. However, it is worth mentioning that only four of those victories were against Conmebol rivals: 2 against Bolivia, 1 against Paraguay and 1 against Peru.
