Claudia Sheinbaum presents the third group of people who will make up her presidential cabinet

The president-elect of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, He presented his third group of people who will make up his presidential cabinet once he replaces Andrés Manuel López Obrador on the first day of next October.

This new list of four people includes the current president of the ruling party National Regeneration Movement (Morena), Mario Delgado, who will be the Secretary of Public Education.

“I know that Mario will play a major role at the head of the Secretariat of Public Education (SEP), where some of the priority programs that we are going to develop will be located,” said Sheinbaum Pardo.

Delgado, who holds a degree in Economics from the Autonomous Technological Institute of Mexico (ITAM) and a master’s degree from the University of Essex (United Kingdom), In 2020 he assumed the leadership of Morena, a party founded by the current president, Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

During this period, the party has “won and ratified” 24 state governorships and, “now, a qualified majority” (two-thirds) in the Chamber of Deputies and “almost” in the Senate.

Before that, also He served as a spokesperson for López Obrador’s presidential campaign in 2018 and, upon being elected federal deputy, he coordinated the Morena parliamentary group in the Chamber of Deputies.

The other three people who are part of this new list are Omar García Harfuch who will be the next Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection; Rosa Icela Rodríguez who will leave her position as Secretary of Security and become the new Secretary of the Interior, while Ariadna Montiel will remain at the head of the Welfare Secretariat.

“It is a privilege to walk alongside you as the first female president in the history of our country. With you we all arrived together, grandmothers, mothers and daughters. A high responsibility like the one you entrust to me now requires a high commitment as well,” she said. the future Secretary of the Interior, Rosa Icela Rodríguez.

“We will work as a team and in absolute coordination with the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of the Navy. The instructions of our president-elect are clear: the strengthening of the National Guard that President Andrés Manuel López Obrador created within the Ministry of National Defense,” said García Harfuch.
