The United States announced Wednesday that it has provided an additional $2.3 billion in aid to Ukraine, including HAWK medium-range missiles, tanks and various types of ammunition.

The Pentagon announced in a statement the new aid to Ukraine, which Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin had already announced on Tuesday during a meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart, Rustem Umerov, specifying that it would amount to $2.3 billion dollars.

The new military aid package includes HAWK missiles, with a medium range of 16 miles (25 kilometers), as well as ammunition for HIMARS, known in Spanish as High Mobility Artillery Rocket System, a lightweight multiple rocket launcher system mounted on a military truck.

The package also includes ammunition, grenades, tanks and Javelin anti-armor missiles, which became key weapons for the Ukrainian resistance to the Russian invasion at the beginning of the conflict.

The new weapons announced by the Pentagon are part of the $60 billion aid package for Ukraine approved by the US Congress in April this year, after months of debate.
