Chiapas Cartel: The violent criminal group made up of CJNG defectors

The formation of the Chiapas and Guatemala Cartelcomposed of deserters from the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), violence intensified in the state’s border area.

This group disputes the CJNG and the Sinaloa Cartel (CDS) migrant trafficking, as well as the transportation of drugs and weapons, in the face of the government’s inaction under Governor Rutilio Escandón.

The confrontations are taking place mainly in this region bordering Guatemala, where on June 28 alone 19 people were killed, including six Guatemalans.

“Something very difficult is coming for the State, because there is no ‘agreement’ between the three criminal groups. The Guatemalans had been controlling La Concordia, Villaflores and Villa Corzo for some time,” a security source told Reforma.

“In this new cartel there are members of government securitythey join together because they are dissatisfied with the fact that many of their bosses were dealing directly with the other cartels and were leaving them out.”

The Chiapas and Guatemala Cartel first appeared last April in a video where they “invited” residents to help them against the Sinaloa Cartel.

They accuse the Sinaloa Cartel of being protected in Chiapas

Military sources explained that drug violence intensified when rival hitmen learned of alleged government protection for the Sinaloa Cartel, led in the state by Jesús Esteban Machado, alias “The Güero Bracelets”.

On Monday, in an information card, the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection detailed that on June 28, a video was released showing Several people dead in the back of a dump truckwho were wearing tactical gear and carrying long weapons.

Military sources said the victims were ambushed and had no time to react armedly.

It was even reported that the group’s lookouts were caught in their posts near a base of operations of the Chiapas and Guatemala Cartel. “They betrayed them,” the military source summarized.

Leaders of the Chiapas and Guatemala Cartel accuse on social media that “El Güero Pulseras” receives support from authorities and denied the government’s thesis that the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) operates there, as a way to disassociate the CDS from the massacre.

However, since March 25, local cells of the CJNG and the Sinaloa Cartel have engaged in a series of clashes.

The shootings have been reported on the Ocozocoautla-Berriozábal highway, 40 minutes from the state capital.

In addition to dozens of deaths, At least 12 vehicles were set on fireone of them a bus, and another a cargo vehicle that was used to block the road.

On that occasion, alleged members of the Chiapas and Guatemala Cartels spread a message on social media in which they denied the presence of the CJNG, and accused state authorities of creating this environment of fear.

“Her presence is an invention of yours, Gabriela Cepeda Soto (Secretary of Security of Chiapas), so as not to be seen as a traitor to the people of Chiapas, by supporting and handing over the state to Jesús Esteban Machado Meza, ‘El Güero Pulseras’, of the Sinaloa Cartel,” said a hooded man during the recording.
