One of the most questioned players after the elimination of the Mexican National Team in the Copa America United States 2024 It was Santiago Giménez who recently published a message on his social networks acknowledging that the “stumble” in this tournament has been difficult to digest.

El Tri said goodbye to the competition after a goalless draw against the Ecuadorian national team last Sunday that left them third in Group B after only having managed a victory against Jamaica (1-0), which was the only goal they managed to score in the entire championship.

That’s why the Feyenoord striker came under fire after having played in all three of the Mexican national team’s matches and having left without being able to score, a key factor in the Mexican national team’s disaster in this 2024 Copa América.

The post was posted on social media by Mexican striker Santiago Giménez on Monday, a day after the Aztecs were eliminated from the group stage of the 2024 Copa América.

“It is difficult to accept that setbacks are part of the journey, we have to continue with a lot of faith. Thanks to all the fans for their unconditional support”wrote “El Bebote” on his personal Instagram account, where he also took the opportunity to thank the support he has received from his fans.

Santiago Giménez was the main offensive card of the Mexican National Team in this 2024 Copa América where Jaime Lozano’s team arrived as one of the main favorites to win Group B that ended in the hands of Venezuela, followed by Ecuador who finished tied in points with El Tri.

Despite having several opportunities throughout the tournament to score a goal, the 23-year-old forward extended his losing streak of games without scoring with the Mexican national team, which now stands at 13 consecutive games without scoring.

How long has Santiago Giménez not scored for El Tri?

Santiago Giménez’s offensive drought with the Mexican national team is striking considering the offensive power that the 23-year-old striker has shown with his club, Feyenoord, where he was the top scorer last season with 23 goals in the Eredivisie.

However, with El Tri things have been different for “Bebote” who has not known what it is like to score a goal with the Aztec team for almost a year. The last time he broke the nets was on July 16, 2023 in the final of the Gold Cup that Mexico won.

On that occasion, the attacker entered the pitch in the final minutes of the final against Panama and scored the winning goal for Mexico (1-0) with little time on the pitch. Since then, 13 consecutive matches have passed without him scoring a goal with the Mexican jersey.
