The word failure is once again part of the conversation among Aztec football fans and that is because The Mexican national team was once again left in the group stage of an important tournament, this time in the 2024 Copa Américawhere in addition to displaying many shortcomings in all aspects, players, coaching staff and especially the Federation are left in a very bad position, demonstrating once again the need for a very profound rethinking in this regard.

Ricardo López Juárez, Sports Editor of La Opinión, was present at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale Arizona and joined us in this broadcast to share his points of view regarding what happened and what is coming.

Ricardo Lopez Juarez: “I went out after the game to talk to Mexican fans who were leaving the stadium and they are also calm, they are resigned, as if they are happy that the team gave everything they had on the field and resigned even though Mexico was not enough again, they were only able to score one goal, you can’t win games if you don’t score goals and this is a complete failure for Mexico in the 2024 Copa América.”

“For a new coaching change, that can surely be done tomorrow. Where do you get the players, where do you get the raw material to make this team different from the one we saw in this Copa America? But let’s take it step by step because in this game we saw this Mexican team that played with urgency, they looked determined to take a chance, to attack, to put a lot of determination into playing with everything. That part leaves me satisfied. They went out to win, they didn’t have the clarity.”

The match was very competitive and more than fought, it was full of controversies and disputes, which were undoubtedly the order of the day. Two of them took place at the end of the match and motivated the immediate intervention of the video refereeing system (VAR), whose audios were revealed on Monday by Conmebol.
