Hunter Biden has joined meetings with President Joe Biden and his top advisers at the White House recently, just days after the Biden-Trump presidential debate, four people familiar with the matter told NBC News.

Hunter has remained especially close to his father and has participated in some of his meetings with his team. it’s not usualNBC News noted, while acknowledging that it is common for President Biden’s son to visit the White House and attend events there.

One of the sources stated that Hunter Biden “has peeked in” to a couple of meetings and phone calls between the president and some of his advisers. Another person familiar with the matter said the reaction from some senior White House officials has been: “What the hell is going on?”

Asked about this, White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre, confirmed that Hunter Biden has remained close to his father since he returned to the White House on Monday afternoon from Camp David, where he spent Sunday with his children and other members of his family.

According to the spokeswoman, Hunter participated in a meeting that her father had with his advisers that same Monday to decide what would be the speech he gave that same night about the Supreme Court’s decision to grant partial immunity to Trump for his efforts as president to overturn the result of the 2020 election.

According to NBC and The New York Times, Hunter Biden is one of the voices that has most strongly urged the president to continue in the race for the White House in order to show voters his fighting nature, rather than the image projected in the debate of an aging president with a hoarse voice who was unable to finish some of his sentences.

Hunter Biden was found guilty in June by a federal jury in Delaware of lying when he bought a gun in 2018, saying he was not using drugs at the time. The judge in the case has not yet handed down a sentence.
