Shooting at Virginia gym: Two dead, including suspected shooter

Police reported that Two people are dead, including a suspected shooter, after shots were fired at a gym in Virginia weekend.

Officers responded to the shooting at OneLife Fitness, a gym and health club in southwest Alexandria, around 4 p.m. Saturday, according to a statement posted on Facebook by the Alexandria Police Department.

Two people, including the suspected shooter, initially suffered life-threatening injuries and were taken to the hospital, according to authorities.

Police declared both the male victim and the suspected shooter dead Saturday night. OneLife Fitness said neither was an employee of the gym.

At the time of the shooting, about 60 people were inside and fled through the building’s front and back exits, according to local media.

“We are deeply saddened by the tragic events that occurred on Saturday at our Alexandria location. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of those involved,” OneLife Fitness said in a statement cited by The Associate Press.

The cause of death for both men will be determined by the medical examiner’s office.police said.

The shooting is under investigation by Alexandria police.

Shooting near the University of Cincinnati campus

Three people were killed and at least two others injured in a shooting near the University of Cincinnati campus.

Two people were arrested, including one of the injured, according to authorities.

“Multiple firearms were recovered at the scene and two subjects (one of whom was also shot) are in custody at this time,” Cincinnati Police Capt. Mark Burns told The Associated Press in an email, adding that he had no further information.

The university’s public security department posted on social media platform X that police were responding to an emergency shortly before 3 a.m. About an hour later, an all-clear message was issued.

Local news stations reported that officers patrolling the area had heard multiple gunshots and arrived to find several people with gunshot wounds. They said the five shot were men.
