Mexico on alert as Hurricane Beryl advances, which could impact the Yucatan Peninsula

Hurricane Beryl, considered “extremely dangerous,” has Mexican authorities on alert because could impact the Yucatan Peninsula.

“At dawn today, #Hurricane #Beryl intensified again to Category 4 on the #SaffirSimpson scale. For now, it has no impact on #Mexico, but it remains on track toward the #YucatanPeninsula,” said Mexico’s National Meteorological Service (SMN).

The president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador assured that permanent surveillance is maintained in view of the advance of Hurricane Beryl through the Caribbean Sea, which could impact Cancun, Quintana Roo.

“We are monitoring the entire trajectory. According to forecasts, it will arrive by Thursday or Friday. The eye of Hurricane Beryl made landfall on Carriacou Island in the Caribbean on Monday, the U.S. National Hurricane Center reported.
