Hispanic man arrested more than 10 years after escaping from a prison in Northern California

A Hispanic man who escaped from a Northern California prison more than a decade ago was located and arrested in New York City, the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) reported.

According to a press release, the CDCR said that Eduardo Hernandez left the Delta Conservation Camp in Suisun Cityin Solano County, on November 15, 2011.

Hernandez He was sentenced on July 6, 2005 in Los Angeles County. to serve a 13-year sentence in state prison for vehicle theft with aggravating use of a firearm.

After remaining on the run for more than 13 years, Eduardo Hernandez was arrested in New York City on May 20 without incident, the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation reported this weekend.

“Hernandez was sentenced on July 6, 2005 in Los Angeles County and received by CDCR on August 4, 2005. Hernandez was sentenced to 13 years for vehicle theft with the aggravating circumstance of using a firearm,” the department said in its statement.

During Hernandez’s escape in 2011, He escaped with another inmate, José Padillawho remains a fugitive from the law, the Los Angeles Times reported.
