As expected, the América coach, Brazilian André Jardine has emerged as a candidate to lead the Mexican national team at a time when they assure that the Amazonian strategist is the most likely to take over from Jaime Lozano if a catastrophe is generated this Sunday with the elimination of Mexico in the Copa America 2024 at the hands of Ecuador.

In the press conference prior to the match between the Águilas and the Tigres in the Liga MX Super Cup, Jardine was proud to be considered as an option for the Mexican national teambut immediately ruled out the possibility out of respect for the current coaching staff of the Aztec team and because he is focused on America.

“Any other situation makes us proud, we are doing things well, but now we are focused on America, thinking about tomorrow, about the season that we planned a lot, thinking exclusively of America.”

Jardine, who has experience in national teams having coached the Brazilian U23 team, has been gaining followers for his work that has gone from less to more in Mexican football, He arrived at Atlético de San Luis almost silently and after a good stage he was considered to manage América. where winning the championship has raised their ratings to unsuspected heights.

Even though Jardine says he is not a candidate, the reality is that his name is on the desk to replace Jaime Lozano, after 20 games who has led the so-called Tricolor has ten games, three draws and seven defeats, which has him on the scaffold to lose his job.

Especially since the current Mexico coach has been getting worse and worse, with defeats against the United States in the Nations League 0-2, with Uruguay and Brazil in preparation for the Copa América 0-4 and 2-3, respectively, but the one that set off the alarm was against Venezuela on the second date of Group B of the Copa América, which has him with one foot out of the national team.

It should be noted that the Mexican national team has not had stability at the helm in the last two years, since the directors took six months to name the Argentine’s replacement. Gerardo Martino who led the Aztec national team to one of its worst failures in the last 46 years in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and from where Diego Cocca has paraded and now Jaime Lozano, but with instability in his projects as is currently happening.
