Since its introduction in 2019, the Tesla Cybertruck has captured the attention of the automotive world with its futuristic design and promises of exceptional performance.
However, the road to mass production has been fraught with challenges. Recently, Tesla has issued a new recall for the Cybertruck, this time due to problems with the windshield wipers and a poorly placed molding, affecting thousands of units.
Recent problems and their implications
The last recall affects 11,688 units of the Tesla CybertruckAccording to the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), windshield wiper failure could compromise driver visibility, increasing the risk of accidents.
This problem is caused by excessive electrical current that can cause the front wiper motor controller to fail.
To solve this defect, Tesla will replace the wiper motor and install pressure sensitive tape or replace the missing trim at no cost to affected owners.
Additionally, 11,383 units of the Cybertruck are being recalled due to a poorly fitted boot box moulding.
This trim could become loose and become a hazard to other drivers on the road.
These issues come on top of a number of previous reviews, raising serious questions about the quality and safety of the initial production Cybertruck.
Issue and revision history
The Cybertruck is no stranger to manufacturing issues. In April 2023Tesla had to recall all units manufactured up to that date due to a possible failure in the accelerator pedal.
The pad on the top of the pedal could come off and get caught in the interior lining, potentially causing the pedal to get stuck while accelerating.
This problem was widely shared by owners on social networks, generating concern and criticism.
In addition, in December 2023, Tesla recalled more than two million vehicles due to problems with its autonomous driving system, Autopilot.
Although these revisions could be resolved by remote software updatesThe frequency and severity of technical problems have called into question Tesla’s ability to ensure the safety of its vehicles.
When the Cybertruck was introduced, Tesla promised an affordable, indestructible vehicle with an impressive range of more than 800 kmHowever, these promises have yet to materialize.
Since its launch, the Cybertruck has faced numerous hurdles, from technical issues to long waiting lists for customers.

Despite these challenges, demand remains high, with many customers willing to pay more than $100,000 and wait years to receive their vehicle.
Tesla CEO Elon Muskhas assured that mass production of the Cybertruck will begin in 2024.
However, repeated recalls and ongoing technical issues could further delay this process. The company must effectively resolve these issues to meet customer expectations and maintain its reputation in the competitive EV market.
The Tesla Cybertruck, with its revolutionary design and performance promiseshas captured the imagination of many. However, persistent issues with quality and safety have marred its launch.
The recent recall over windshield wiper issues and a misplaced molding is just the latest in a series of challenges Tesla must overcome to deliver on its ambitious promises.
With mass production yet to begin, the success of the Cybertruck will depend on Tesla’s ability to solve these problems and deliver a product that lives up to expectations.
