Lionel Messi did not leave well after the match against Chile in the Copa América. After some discomfort in his leg, it was revealed on Friday that the injury is not serious and he will not have to miss the tournament.

Messi suffered a contracture and it is only a minor muscle discomfort. Argentina’s No. 10 will rest against Peru and is expected to be ready for the quarterfinals.

Leo Messi has already done the studies:
There is no major injury. The contracture declined to something minimal.
Work to participate in the quarterfinals.

Argentina is already classified for the quarterfinals. The albiceleste team will do so in first place and will meet its rival between Mexico, Ecuador and Jamaica.

Scaloni’s team is expected to be able to make rotations for the last day after having achieved qualification.

Players such as Alejandro Garnacho are expected to make their debut in the group stage.

Argentina goes against superstitions

The two incentives of this milestone are not only encouraging for the albiceleste fans, since Argentina did not win either of those two editions, beating all of its rivals in the group stage.

In 2007 the team made its way to the final, with a full squad of big names like Javier Zanetti, Juan Sebastián Verón, Juan Román Riquelme or a very young Lionel Messi.

In fact, that edition was the last time that Argentina and Peru met in the Copa América, in a match that ended 4-0 in favor of those led by Alfio Basile.

That group fell resoundingly in the final against a Brazil devoid of big names and that won with a resounding 3-0 against the Argentines.

The second time the team achieved this feat was in the Centenario Cup of 2016, which ended with Chile beating Argentina in that painful final that was decided from the penalty spot.
