Testimonies against “El Menchito” implicate him in more than 100 murders; his defense seeks to exonerate him

One of the trials that has caused the most interest at present is that of Ruben Oseguera Gonzalezalias “The Menchito”who was the heir to one of the bloodiest criminal associations in Mexico, the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG).

And it is that the son of Ruben Oseguera Cervantesalias “El Mencho,” rejected a plea deal with the U.S. justice system and chose to stand trial.

The young criminal belongs to a generation known as “nepo babies”, since they were born in golden cradles based on drug trafficking, blood and violence spilled, so he would inherit “by right” the criminal empire built by his father, one of the drug traffickers. most wanted. But he fell into the hands of justice.

After having rejected the agreement, it was considered that, If found guilty, he could be sentenced to life in prison.Although his defense indicates that the American justice system does not have sufficient evidence against him, the testimonies against him could completely sink him.

It was said that he backed out of the agreement so as not to testify against his uncle. Abigael Gonzalez Valenciaalias “El Cuini”, but having made that decision could entail a very high price, since according to court documents released by journalist Keegan Hamilton, the testimonies that will be heard in the trial They will implicate him in 100 murdersthe fall of a helicopter and purchases from a former Russian military man.

Given this, the defense lawyers of “El Menchito” presented a motion this Thursday to dismiss said testimonies, which are additional evidence to the charges that were brought against him in the accusations against him.

It should be recalled that on February 1, 2017, a jury in the District of Colombia filed an indictment against Oseguera González for the crimes of conspiracy to distribute cocaine and methamphetamine, as well as use of firearms and destructive devices related to drug trafficking operations.

However, the defense lawyers of “El Menchito” consider that the testimonies that will be heard in the Washington Court incriminate him in acts of violence, corruption and operations with controlled substances in addition to cocaine and methamphetamine.

Accusations against “El Menchito”

The son of “El Mencho” was accused of being behind the murders of 100 people, as explained by lawyer Anthony Colombo Jr., also the one who would be the heir of the CJNG participated in torture against two men who collaborated with the authoritiesand is accused of showing photographs of the crimes to third parties.

Likewise, the lawyer said that he could be accused of shooting down a Navy Secretariat (Semar) helicopter so that he and his father could escape, an event in which nine members died.

The testimonies could also reveal that “El Menchito” has an unimaginable cold bloodas he could be accused of being behind several kidnappings and of having personally murdered two men, a worker who did not obey his orders and a member of an opposing cartel.

He is also accused of being a participant in an evil that greatly affects Mexico and allows drug trafficking to operate: corruption, since he allegedly coordinated elements of security corporations to help him move drugs and hitmen in Mexican territory.

Other allegations against “El Menchito” that will appear in the October trial will be: involvement in the production of fentanyl that would be sent to the United States; purchases from a former Russian military officer who provided training to the CJNG; recruit hitmen, and free a kidnapped chemist in order to help them in the production of synthetic drugs.

The defense’s argument for excluding these accusations is that they are vague. and they do not give specific dates or places, so they have no relation to the previous accusations and would only generate prejudice in the jury against the accused.
