Featherweight is the target of criticism again The reason? The Mexican singer made some statements about his contribution to Mexican music, something that did not sit well with everyone.
The singer made the statements in an interview with Clarissa Molina on the program The fat and the skinnywhere he said that he considered that he represents a “before and after in Mexican music.”
“I think Peso Pluma is the before and after of a new era in Mexican music. I think that’s very good because everyone is now turning to see us, and everyone wants to make Mexican music,” said the singer.
“Let it be there on TV that Peso Pluma was the one who did that, along with the help of many artists who also invented a path before one was here, to Caesar what belongs to Caesar,” added the interpreter of “She dance alone.”
The 25-year-old singer referred to his artistic personality as a character who came to save Mexican music. “He is an extroverted character, he is not afraid to show himself as he is. It is this type of superhero within music, within the Mexican regional industry that came to change things, that came to save the genre. Nowadays they look at the genre differently because of that character,” he said.
Featherweight’s statements did not sit well with many peoplewho did not hesitate to share their criticism of the singer on social networks.
“It’s a big deal that he neither sings nor writes or anything”, “How wrong he is, there are levels and the Mexican regional has always been the regional and not because of you, position yourself”, “It’s a mockery for real singers”, they were some of the criticisms.
Peso Pluma’s statements occur days after the release of his new album Exodus, the fourth of his career, which includes songs like “14 – 14”, “Rompe la dompe”, or “Mr. Smith.”
The album also features collaborations with artists such as Jasiel Nuñez, Netón Vega, Junior H, Óscar Maydon, Chino Pacas, Natanael Cano, among others.
Featherweight broke his foot during a show
The first week of June, Featherweight revealed that he suffered a complication during a show: he broke his foot during his presentation at the Governor’s Ball festival in New York.
