Edson Álvarez suffered a serious injury in his debut with Mexico in the Copa América. After leaving the field crying, the Mexican left a message that leaves little hope for returning to El Tri.

“God knows what he puts in, God knows what he takes out, God knows what he does. Thank you for your messages, together and united,” wrote ‘el Machín’.

West Ham’s Mexican midfielder felt a strain in his back thigh and limped out of the stadium. According to some reports, the injury is a tear that would keep him out of the tournament.

The suspense also has to do with the additional wear and tear that a trip from Houston (Texas) to Inglewood (California) could cost the captain, where El Tri will play his second game, despite the fact that he is not in physical condition.

“With Edson we are going to wait a couple of days to do a study.” and know well what he has. Obviously with him, or with any other player, the intention is not to risk anything,” Lozano said after Saturday’s debut.

On the arrival trip to Los Angeles, Edson Álvarez was observed arriving on crutches, which shows the serious pain after the injury.

According to multiple reports, this Monday they will do the corresponding tests to determine how serious the injury is and whether or not they will be able to count on him for the rest of the tournament.

Mexico must physically recover from a tough debut with victory to face Venezuela this Wednesday. By achieving victory, the Mexican team ensures its classification to the quarterfinals.

We have to wait for the match against Vinotinto on the second date to see how the Jaime Lozano team organizes after Álvarez’s injury.

Only a victory would qualify for the next phase. A draw would leave everything to be decided on the last date against the Ecuadorian team that fell on the first day against Venezuela.
