Pope Francis called this Sunday (06/23/2024) to the rulers of the world “wisdom and sense of responsibility” to negotiate the end of different conflicts, such as those in Ukraine and the Gaza Strip.

“Let us continue to pray for peace, especially in Ukraine, in Palestine, in Israel (…) the north of the Congo,” said the pontiff after praying the Angelus from the window of the Apostolic Palace, alluding to the presence of an Israeli flag among the faithful who listened to him from St. Peter’s Square.

“Let us pray for peace. Peace in the martyred Ukraine, which suffers greatly“he continued.

Francis predicted that “the Holy Spirit will illuminate the minds of rulers, instilling in them wisdom and a sense of responsibility to avoid any action or word that fuels conflict.”

“Negotiation is necessary”said the leader of the Vatican, who follows these wars with attention and concern.
