Trevor Bauer is teaching in the Mexican Baseball League. Friday, June 21, will go down in history thanks to the dominant performance of the American pitcher. lThe Red Devils of Mexico beat the Guerreros of Oaxaca 6-1. But the most relevant are the 19 strikeouts from Bauer.

The record, in a nine-inning game, became effective after Trevor Bauer struck out catcher Gabriel Lino for the second out of the final inning. In the previous episode, Alexi Amarista would deliver the 18th strikeout of the night, a figure that already made Bauer historic.

For the last out, manager Lorenzo Bundy entered the mound to take the ball away from the American pitcher. With his record in his pocket, Bauer left the game. In his replacement, reliever Jimmy Racabonis took the mound, a pitcher who recorded one last strikeout of the night (20) and in this way The Red Devils of Mexico closed a collective record: Highest strikeout rate for a team in a nine-inning game. The previous record was 18.

The previous collective figure was a record shared by several franchises in the Mexican Baseball League: Eagle (1939 against Tampico and 1951 against Nuevo Laredo), Nuevo Laredo (1940 against Chihuahua), Yucatan (against Coahuila in 1974) and Tigers (against Puebla in 2022).

Evidently, Trevor Bauer took his ninth victory of the season. With his participation against the Warriors of Oaxaca, Bauer has 102 strikeouts in 11 outings this season (69.1 innings). The American maintains a 1.56 ERA.
