Four years before the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games, The organization announced a change of venues for certain sports.

Among the sports that change are swimming, which will be held in the home of the Rams and the Chargers.

Swimming will be held at Sofi Stadium to accommodate 38,000 fans and have the largest Olympic pool in history.

On the other hand, basketball will be played in the new Intuit Dome stadium in Inglewood. The gymnastics will be at the home of the Clippers and the Lakers, at the Crypto.com Arena.

One of the venues that will not have changes will be Athletics, which will be in the Memorial Coliseum Stadium in Los Angeles, just like it was done in the Olympic Games from 1932 and 1984.

“Having one of those three great Olympic sports in a spectacular place with the ability to show that sport it was simply a good opportunity,” said Casey Wasserman, president of the organizing committee, about the decision to hold swimming at SoFi Stadium.

What sports changed venues for Los Angeles 2028?

Softball and canoe slalom will be contested in Oklahoma City. The Softball headquarters in Los Angeles is for 2,000 people and they expect a large influx of people at that event.

The stadium that will receive this sport, which returns to the Olympic Games, It will be Devon Park. This venue hosts the annual Women’s College World Series tournament. Softball was in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Meanwhile, Riversport OKC will host the canoeing. This year the Paris 2024 qualifiers were held at that venue.

These changes follow instructions from the International Olympic Committee not to build temporary venues and to use venues outside the city.

Oklahoma City is close to just over 20 minutes from the city of Los Angeles, so it does not imply a great distance.

“Oklahoma City has hosted many international competitions,” said Oklahoma City Mayor David Holt.. “We are confident that we will be an outstanding partner for LA28 to create a dynamic environment for athletes and fans. “We are excited for the opportunity to support a great city like Los Angeles, and work closely with the LA28 organizing committee to ensure the 2028 Olympic Games are a success.”
