Mexican nurse who trafficked organs killed a family who demanded a kidney from him

In Mexico, more than 21,000 people are on the waiting list to receive an organ or tissue transplant, a situation that leads families to such great points of desperation that some choose to look for options in the illegal market, risking falling into hands of charlatans, as happened to a family from Chihuahua, who was murdered by a nurse.

Six years ago the Romero family died at the hands of the auxiliary nurse of the IMSS (government institution that provides medical care to salaried workers), who, according to the authorities, went to the victims’ house in the company of his wife and son and opened fire against them. They had paid him for a kidney and, when they did not receive it, they demanded.

The accused, identified as Jorge Alberto, recently He was sentenced to 172 years and six months in prison for the murders of five victims. In addition, a payment was imposed to repair the material damage in the amount of 9.5 million Mexican pesos, according to the Chihuahua Prosecutor’s Office.

On June 29, 2018, the now convicted man shot the victims with a firearm, who demanded the delivery of a kidney, an organ for which They had paid him the amount of 500,000 pesos and that it would be for one of the murdered people.

According to the newspaper El Universal, a man with kidney damage due to diabetes contacted him because he was at the bottom of the waiting list for said organ. The nurse He told him that with the payment of half a million pesos he would get him the kidney and I would operate it in the institution.

However, that was not the only crime committed by Jorge Alberto, since he has been in prison since 2022 serving another sentence for the murder of a woman committed in December 2017, who apparently demanded a job from him that he promised in exchange. of money.

Modus operandi

According to the newspaper El Universal, the nurse had a modest salary as an assistant, which contrasted with his luxurious lifestyle, since he owned at least 10 luxury cars. The resources came from the sale of places and organseveryone in the department knew that he could get a better position in exchange for large sums of money.

Many people came to him to get a better job, others to obtain an organ to be able to live. He had as accomplices a doctor – not yet identified – and Juan A., who was in charge of the Labor Exchange at the IMSS and placed those who paid the nurse for it.

But In several cases he did not comply with what was agreedfor which his victims complained to him since they had given him a lot of money, the answer to their questions was generally death, because far from resolving the situation he decided to kill them.

His wife and son were released, the Prosecutor’s Office will file an appeal for this, but it has been reported that the woman is currently on the run.
