The victory of the Argentine National Team at the beginning of the Copa América United States 2024 had a negative point after Moise Bombito, a Canadian National Team player, reported that he had been the victim of racist attacks after committing a foul on Lionel Messi.

One day after victory of the Albiceleste over the North American team (2-0) It became known about the attacks that the player who committed a harsh foul on the Argentine captain received on his social networks. An action that did not transcend the field although it did cause an impact on the Internet.

Numerous messages referring to his skin color accompanied by images of monkeys appeared on the social networks of Moise Bombito, a 24-year-old defender who lives for the Colorado Rapids of Major League Soccer.

The Canadian Football Federation was quick to publish a statement showing its support for Moise Bombito for the racist attacks of which he was a victim after the debut in the Copa América 2024.

Faced with this unfortunate situation, the Canadian Football Federation showed its support for the player who was the victim of hate attacks because of his skin color, as well as announcing that they are looking for a way to have some punishment for the guilty parties.

“Canada is aware and deeply disturbed by the racist comments made online and directed at one of our players after tonight’s game. “We are in communication with Concacaf and Conmebol regarding this matter.”says the statement from the North American federation.

For its part, Concacaf also spoke out in the midst of this unpleasant episode in which it showed its support for both the player and the Canadian National Team. They also announced that they will carry out investigations to determine who is behind the racist insults.
