Analyzing 'Éxodo', Peso Pluma's album on the eve of their album listening party

Peso Pluma takes a bold step with the official release of their highly anticipated fourth studio album, ‘Éxodo’.

The project gives a twist to the image of Peso Pluma on the music scene. With this new proposal, Peso redefines his image as an artist, proving to be more than a performer of traditional Mexican music.

The album is presented in two strategically positioned parts, each exploring diverse musical genres that have influenced the artist’s career. From the deep-rooted rhythms of Mexican regional music to bold forays into rap, hip hop, reggaeton and electronica, ‘Éxodo’ represents a journey of limitless musical experimentation and a reflection of Peso’s musical career.

Concept and Theme

The word ‘exodus’ highlights themes of migration, personal identity and transformation. With this album, Peso shows his intention to honor the genres that marked his beginnings and introduced him not only to music, but to the world.

This duality reflects the artist’s constant search to transcend genres and musical borders. Furthermore, with the second part of the album, his desire to expand horizons and flirt with other genres and rhythms is evident. With this tactic the artist is not only demonstrating his musical ability, but is attracting listeners who are fans of rap, electronica and hip hop, all of which are present in outstanding songs in the second part of the album.

Star Collaborations

The collaborations stand out in both the first and second parts of the album.

In the first part, composed of 16 songs, fans can enjoy projects made with prominent figures of regional Mexican music and its subgenres. From the opening with “La Durango” alongside Eslabon Armado and Junior H, to the contributions of Iván Cornejo (“Reloj”), Chino Pacas (“Mami”), Natanael Cano (“Vino tinto”) and Luis R Conriquez (“ Sr.Smith”), each song in this part offers a rich panorama of the Mexican talent, whose rhythms elevated La Doble P to stardom.

The second half of the album offers a varied lineup that spans genres. Notable collaborations include international artists such as Rich the Kid (“Gimme a second”), Anitta (“Bellakeo”), Cardi B (“Put em in the fridge”), Quavo (“Pa nopensa”), Arcangel (“Peso complete”), Kenia OS (“Tommy & Pamela”), Ryan Castro (“Mala”) and Dj Snake (“Teka”).

The message

Featherweight is acclaimed for its ability to combine tradition and innovation. On ‘Exodus’, this skill shines, delivering an immersive mix of sounds that honor their roots and cross cultural and geographic boundaries.

From the title to the execution of this album, one thing is clear: Peso Pluma recognizes no borders. The message of ‘Exodus’ encapsulates the very meaning of its name: “migration.” With this album, the integration of new and diverse genres, and the collaboration between traditional Mexican music artists and those that Peso Pluma has met during his artistic evolution, convey a clear message: he does not forget his roots, but he has a clear vision of where you want to go.
