After allegedly calling Milwaukee a “horrible city” to host the Republican National Convention, Donald Trump, conservative presidential candidate, turned his statement around and now claims to love said metropolis.

Last week, Punchbowl News reported that during a closed-door meeting with House Republicans, the nation’s former president called Milwaukee a “horrible city.”

However, during a rally in Racine, Wisconsin, the New York billionaire He claimed to have been the one who chose Milwaukee as a meeting point for members of the conservative party and in passing rejected the statement where they attribute him to disparaging the city. located next to Lake Michigan.

“I love Milwaukee. I was the one who chose Milwaukee, I have to say. These lying people who say, ‘Oh, he doesn’t like Milwaukee.’ I love Milwaukee,” he expressed.

The 78-year-old Republican confessed that his only controversial comment about the largest and most populous city in Wisconsin was aimed at the increase in crime it is experiencing.

“I said I had to fix the crime. We all know that. You have to make sure that the choice is honest, but I was the one who chose Milwaukee,” he emphasized.

Johnson, spokesperson for the Trump campaign, supported the presidential candidate’s statement and indicated that the version released by Punchbowl News It was a “total lie.”

“President Trump was explicitly referring to the problems in Milwaukee, specifically violent crime and electoral fraud,” he stressed.

To take advantage of the stir that Trump’s alleged derogatory comment caused, Joe Biden’s campaign team launched products that included T-shirts and stickers emblazoned with the silhouette of a map of the city, to which was added the legend “(Not) a horrible city.”

It should be noted that the Republican National Convention will take place from July 15 to 18 and it is expected that on one of those days, Donald Trump will reveal the name of his running mate.

However, within the conservative party the possibility is contemplated that perhaps the former president of the nation could not attend if he is declared sentenced to prison by Judge Juan Merchan.
