Mexican soccer this Wednesday, June 19, could have the much needed change of direction for a true structural change with the implementation of two working groups that will analyze how viable is the reinstallation of the 20/11 minor rule and the reduction of foreigners that so far allows the registration of nine players not born in Mexico and seven on the field of play.

These initiatives will be headed by the High Commissioner of Football in Mexico, Juan Carlos “La Bomba” Rodríguez, who since his appointment last year has tried to give a new twist to football in the Aztec country, trying to remedy the damage caused by the increase in foreigners from five to ten eight years ago in 2016, as well as the disappearance of promotion and relegation in Liga MX in 2020 along with the cancellation of the 11/20 minor rule.

In this informative meeting we talked about the advances in the NEW MODEL OF MEXICAN FOOTBALL focused especially on 4 axes: 1) @MikelArriolaP talked about the progress in the ES POR LA AFIÓN program to improve the experience in the stadiums and 2) he addressed what is coming for him…

The Liga MX clubs justified these measures to try to heal their finances supposedly affected by the ravages of the 20/11 pandemic, but they never thought that the effects of these measures They would be so damaging that the Mexican National Team has gone into setbacks as happened in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, in which after 44 years it was not possible to advance even to the first round of a World Cup as happened in Argentina 1978.

The Liga MX teams never imagined how damaging the shockwave of these decisions would be, but the failure of the World Cup in Arab lands apparently brought football in Mexico back to reality. determining to generate a large-scale plan to change the face of a football that seems to be successful commercially, but that in sports continues to fall into disrepair in a very unfortunate way.

So the discussion tables that will be implemented this Wednesday will be focused on these decisions, taking into account that in the minor rule the issue that is delaying the approval of the project is more of form than substance, since some teams want it to only be perform in the regular tournament and others that are included in the Play In and in the league, with the aim that young people know that they represent these instances on the playing field.

While on the issue of foreigners, what is stopping some change is that the teams consider that it is cheaper to bring ready-made players from abroad. than betting on their basic strengths. Without a doubt a very critical issue and where the teams will argue from their perspective how much the increase in their budget, promoting more players and subtracting the number of foreign places can mean.
