At just 20 years old, Jude Bellingham has become one of the greatest figures of football worldwide, and the Real Madrid and England national team player promises to be one of the best players in the world in the short term. However, the British player is currently in the media spotlight and among the comments of foot ball fans, not because of his outstanding performances on the field of play, nor because of the goal in England’s victory over Serbia in the first day of Euro 2024.

The striking spots on his face have been on everyone’s lips and people question why the player on the White House team has them.

Bellingham was the Most Valuable Player of the match between England and Serbia thanks to a goal scored with a header, and in the post-match statements next to the MVP trophy when the image of his face went viral on social networks. Their users were quite intrigued to know what is happening with the face and health of the British player.

What dermatological problem causes these spots in Bellingham?

Given the commotion caused on social networks, several specialists have come out in defense of the British player, analyzing the situation he is currently experiencing and some determined that the Englishman suffers from a disease called: melasma. The most viral example has been that of Dr. Gadea Braceras, a dermatologist at the San Sebastián University Hospital, who uploaded a video in which she explains said symptoms in her profile.

According to information from the MSD Manual, one of the most important medical information resources used throughout the world, describes this pathology as follows: “Melasma is characterized by dark brown pigmentation plaques that appear on areas exposed to the sun, usually on the face.” Its shape is “patch”. “The most likely cause of melasma is excessive production of melanin,” the manual continues. “Black skin has a high level of melanin – the pigment that gives color. For this reason, black skin produces an excess of this melanin and gives rise to dark spots, which are accentuated by the sun, which is why the spots on the British player have been accentuated in recent weeks with the arrival of the heat.”
