Veljko Paunovic is clear about his objective with the Tigers: “It has to be a winning team”

Veljko Paunovic He is quite clear about what his main objective is on the bench of the Tigres de la UANL. The Serbian coach seemed confident after his first week in his new position in which he hopes to take the feline team back to the top of Liga MX.

The Serbian coach, who became the successor of the Uruguayan Robert Dante Siboldialso pointed out that in these first days of work in the preseason of the university team in the Riviera Maya he had the opportunity to have that first approach with his new players.

“This week in Cancun we have gotten to know each other and introduced the concepts in the way we believe will work”commented the technical director who is in his second experience in Mexican soccer after having directed Chivas del Guadalajara for one season.

“There are still several meetings with the group and with some players individually because they are things that are important to do now”continued the new feline coach who has no problem revealing what his main objective is in this new challenge.

“We have to know them now as soon as possible and understand the expectations we have to set. The plan for Tigres is that it has to be a winning team.”recognized Veljko Paunovic who left the door open for the arrival of new reinforcements for the Apertura 2024 tournament of the Liga MX.

“That is an internal issue, but we continue to evaluate options and a week is a good amount of work time but not enough and we do not want to rush with an evaluation that is too early.”complemented the European strategist who reiterated that they welcome the arrival of more talent.

“Of course we are open to the possibilities that may arise in the market”said the coach who will put a lot of emphasis on being able to carry out a good preparation that will include several friendly matches to calibrate his team.

“Yes, that is one of the keys, we have to see how they reach everyone (the concepts) and how they compete and if there is commitment it is something that I will have to see, if there is desire it is also important”said Paunovic, who stressed that in these first days of work he has seen a good group of players.

“They are very enthusiastic, it is a completely dedicated group and I think that commitment is not something we lack”concluded the new coach of the feline team that this next semester he will seek to return to the top of Mexican soccer, a position that has been elusive in the last two tournaments.
