Veljko Paunovic after agreeing with the UANL Tigres: “This opportunity means a lot”

The young European coach who had spent a season at the head of Chivas del Guadalajara, a team he said goodbye to after the Apertura 2023 tournament, became the successor of Uruguayan coach Robert Dante Siboldi on the bench of the university team.

Shortly after the Tigers’ announcement, Veljko Paunovic Accompanied by his new coaching staff, he joined the feline preseason in the Riviera Maya from where he gave his first impressions as the new strategist of the UANL Tigres for the Apertura 2024 tournament.

Valjko Paunovic, 46 years old and who will be accompanied by the Portuguese Nuno Miguel Gomes Bentes, the Spanish-Argentine Claudio David Arseno Pessuto and the South African-English Quinton Fortune, acknowledged that he was also attracted by the “challenge” that being in an organization like the UANL Tigers.

“The challenge, for me that always motivates me, has been the fuel with which I have supported myself in the projects I have been in”added the Serbian technical director who will now seek, with the feline team, to win his first championship in Mexican soccer.

For their part, the Tigres hope that with the help of Veljko Paunovic they can return to the top of Mexican soccer. The cats have just been eliminated in the quarterfinals of the Clausura 2023 tournament against the Rayados de Monterrey and had previously been defeated in the final of the Apertura 2023 by the Águilas del América.
