In the world of numismatics, silver coins are highly sought after among collectors. Not all pieces usually have minting errors, some simply have significant historical value that makes them worth thousands of dollars.

For the common citizen, identifying a copy of any coin that really costs a fortune is somewhat complicated. There are some characteristics that can help recognize them at first glance, but it is best to research the subject.

For example; Silver coins commonly called “Walking Liberty” or “Libertad Andando” are highly prized by collectors, although Adolph A. Weinman’s original 50-cent coin design was produced between 1916 and 1947.

Years later, 1985 there was a new production of these coins with the same design on the obverse, and a change on the reverse and the face value had increased to one dollar. They were minted in various mints such as San Francisco and Philadelphia.

Among the most common errors that can be highlighted in these coins is the duplicate die, the misalignment that occurs when the die and the plate are misaligned; and weak etching, which can occur when a foreign object passes between the die and the plate.
