Lionel Messi played his last game with Inter Miami before the Copa América. The star will head to the Argentina team ahead of its debut on June 20 against Canada.

Inter Miami tied 3-3 against St. Louis this Saturday with a goal and pass for assistance from Messi. Now the club will miss him in at least four games.

The Argentina team will play in the group stage from June 20 to June 29. If he does not qualify for the quarterfinals, Messi could return to Inter Miami after four games.

If the Argentine team manages to qualify until the final of the tournament being held in the United States, Messi will miss up to a total of six, possibly seven, matches with the team.

Inter Miami is in first place in the Eastern Conference table with 35 points, two more than Cincinnati FC, although with two more games played.

Miami has a 13-point advantage over the last team that is classified for the playoffsso I will have a comfortable cushion for the games that Lio Messi will not be able to count on.

Tata Martino talks about the absence of Lionel Messi

Gerardo Martino talked about Lionel Messi’s departure from the Argentina national team and assured that it is something he has done all his life.

“In today’s game he was responsible with Jordi Alba for participating in all of our attacks. He insisted during the 90 minutes. I have not seen the alleged ankle problem, from my point of view it ended well and now “He will do what is right, what he has done all his life, be present with the Argentine team,” Messi commented.

Alba, a former Barcelona player, scored the final goal to make it 3-3 in the 87th minute for Inter Miami, which is momentarily the leader of the East with two points ahead of Cincinnati, which has two games less.

Asked about what awaits Inter Miami without Messi during the Copa América, Martino did not hide the fact that his absence will be noticed in the team.

“Regarding Leo, Jordi, Sergio Busquets and Luis Suárez, they are the players they are, they have had a lot of attention towards them, and It is logical that we all expect them to have a strong impact on the game,” said Martino.
