Oleksandr Usyk, undisputed heavyweight champion, does not want to lose his undisputed status and requested the International Boxing Federation (IBF) to You are granted an exception so you can keep your title for the rematch with Tyson Fury in October in Saudi Arabia.
According to BoxingScene, the boss of this boxing organization, Daryl Peoples, confirmed that last Friday Usyk made his request official after it was rumored that he could be stripped for not fulfilling his obligations as champion.
“IBF President Daryl Peoples confirmed to BoxingScene on Friday that Usyk He made the request less than a week after his moving victory by split decision over Fury in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia,” he reported.

Although if the IBF strips the Ukrainian, the Croatian would fight for the belt next.
“As far as IBF rules are concerned, any reigning champion may request an exception. Any reigning champion may request an exception to any IBF rule.. The rule is that you cannot have a clause in your contract that guarantees you a revenge fight that interferes with your mandate (…) Everyone, more or less, knows the consequences of having those clauses,” Peoples told the aforementioned media.
Usyk became undisputed champion for the second time in his career by defeating Fury last May 18. The Ukrainian began by losing the fight with the British, who kept him at bay in the first half due to his great reach, mobility in the ring and with body blows.
In the second part of the fight, The Ukrainian was gaining confidence and in the ninth he almost knocked out the English fighter. After the 12 rounds, one judge scored 113-114 for The Gipsy King, while the other two judges saw Usyk as the winner 115-12 and 114-113 to make history. This feat has not been achieved for 19 years, since the last to do so was Lennox Lewis.
Oleksandr Usyk, 37, He was crowned undisputed champion for the second time in his career, but this time at heavyweight, after a close fight with Fury in Saudi Arabia. The Ukrainian fighter maintains his immaculate record after 22 fights, 14 of them on the fast track.
