Man died after crashing his jet ski into a rock wall in a Utah reservoir

Rangers reported that A man on a jet ski died after crashing into a reservoir rock wall at East Canyon State Park in Utah on Wednesday.

Benjamin Paul Rosser, 30, of Salt Lake City, was riding a personal watercraft on the reservoir alone when he crashed on the west side around 7:30 p.m., said a statement from Utah State Parks reviewed by Fox News.

A nearby fisherman heard the crash, saw the wreckage and immediately called for help. The rangers responded to the area in a patrol boat.

By the time rangers arrived and recovered Rosser, he had succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Rosser, originally from Pennsylvania, was wearing his life jacket at the time of the accident. The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office and Morgan County Emergency Services assisted in the rescue.

Utah State Parks reminded visitors to practice “responsible recreation” ahead of Memorial Day weekend, when thousands of residents and tourists prepare to visit the area.

East Canyon State Park is about an hour’s drive northeast of Salt Lake City.
