Drug traffickers are looking for different ways to take their merchandise from Mexico (or other countries) to the United States, in one of the recent discoveries, in which they were seized 700,000 fentanyl pills At a border point in Arizona, it was discovered that they use food cans to store illicit substances.
Agents from the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) discovered the shipment at a point between Nogales, in the state of Sonora, and Arizona, which was carried in the trunk of a private vehicle. The driver of the unit stopped for a routine secondary inspection and it was discovered what he was carrying.
Michael W. Humphriesdirector of Ports in Nogales, released the information and shared images of the seizure, in which it can be seen that the pills were placed in transparent plastic bags, then they were placed in different pantry products so that they would go unnoticed.
But the supplies had several anomalies that were detected by one of the agents who carried out the inspection, the cans of vegetables and sauces, bottles of coconut water, cartons of juice and boxes of cookiesthey looked strange, the fentanyl pills had been placed in them.
The products were not loose, they were packaged in such a way that they looked like they had just come from some wholesale store, but the man who transported them did not expect that he would be subjected to a scrupulous routine, which would end up bringing the truth of his products to light.
And when one of the agents took a can, When he shook it he heard a tapping sound, thus revealing the fentanyl traffickinga substance that is causing a public health crisis in the United States.
For this reason, right in Nogales, a security plan known as Operation Plaza Spike was launched, whose objective is to dismantle the criminal cells that are dedicated to the transfer of drugs.
Although US authorities have identified the main suppliers of fentanyl to Sinaloa Cartel and to Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), regarding this seizure it has not been revealed which criminal group is related.
