Copa América will award a record of millions of dollars in prizes to national teams

The Copa América will deliver a record bonus of $72 million dollars for the 2024 edition.

The winner of the cup organized by Conmebol will receive a prize of $16 million dollars, according to an ESPN report.

All teams will receive $2 million dollars for participating. And the remaining $40 million dollars will be awarded in different prizes throughout the championship.

This amount is more than double the amount awarded in the last Copa América. Argentina received a total of $6.5 million dollars after defeating Brazil in the final of the South American tournament.

The United States will host the tournament for the second time, which will again include teams from Conmebol and Concacaf.

In the Copa América Centenario that was held in the US, there was a total prize of $21.5 millions of dollars. Chile was champion and received a total of $6.5 million dollars in prizes.

How much will the teams receive in the Copa América 2024?

In addition to the $2 million dollars that teams receive for participating, each team that qualifies the quarterfinals will receive $2 million more.

The team that comes in fourth place in the Copa América will receive $4 million more. The team that receives the bronze medal will have a prize of $5 million dollars.

The consolation for the country that loses the final will be a prize of $7 million dollars. The organization will also cover the costs of hotels, air tickets and ground transportation of the teams.

Copa América 2024 will have up to six changes to protect the players

The South American Football Confederation (Conmebol) will implement during the Copa América, which will be held between June and July in the United States, a sixth substitution of players, in addition to the five in force, in case of head trauma and concussion.

The decision was announced this Tuesday in a statement by the Directorate of Competitions and Operations of Conmebol, an organization that has its headquarters in the Paraguayan city of Luque.
