In the midst of the success obtained during the promotion of his new film in collaboration with Anya Taylor-Joy, “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga”, the actor Chris Hemsworth surprised when he reflected on his career in Hollywood and the creative block he suffered during his time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
In a recent interview, the Australian opened up about the decade and four solo films he has directed with Marvel Studios. In this regard, he indicated that despite the great affection and reception that his character has received, there was a moment when he felt stuck.
“I was running out of ideas. I felt creatively a little stagnant“, confessed the actor who in 2022 starred in his fourth film as ‘The God of Thunder’, to the CulturaOcio portal.
However, Chris Hemsworth defends tooth and nail the franchise that made him the idol of the new generations: “I am very grateful to superhero cinema for the number of people who have collectively had an experience in which they have lived a journey and an escape.”, he said. “And particularly the children. Let the children come up and say: ‘I love that character’… They capture more messages, mythology, reflections and meanings than we would have ever intended. His imagination is what captivates and inspires me, which is why I make those films.”
Regarding the criticism that this franchise has received, the famous person indicated that “That space for superheroes in which they are pigeonholed or belittled and seen as a kind of trash entertainment… Look, it’s not up to us as filmmakers or entertainment artists to tell audiences what’s cool. We offer it to them and they will do it”, he stated.
And his work has taken him to the big leagues, giving him the opportunity to be part of other sagas that delight the public. Such is the case of “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga”, the most recent project that led him to challenge himself on a physical and acting level.
“When you do something that represents a big change, leaving your comfort zone, there are the lessons. Along with any kind of new challenges there is a new set of experiences and you always get something out of it. And there comes the growth”, he detailed.
