With the aim of convincing them to vote for the Democratic Party in November, Juan Peñalosa, deputy political director of President Joe Biden’s campaign, contacted—via a Zoom call—several groups of supporters who supported Nikki Haley during her campaign for the Republican presidential nomination.

In the middle of this week, one of the characters considered pillars of the campaign that promotes the Democratic re-election in the White House, tried to take advantage of the confusion that prevails in the Republican groups that supported the former governor of South Carolina over who to back after the 52-year-old stepped aside to allow Donald Trump’s name to appear on the ballot.

And, given how close the dispute for the presidency is, this group of supporters could represent a key percentage in defining the winner of the elections in November.

Thus, Juan Peñalosa reached an agreement with Haley’s Voter Task Force to dialogue virtually with conservative supporters from Virginia, Massachusetts, Vermont, California, Florida, Georgia, Arizona and North Carolina, as well as Haley’s state leadership teams and the Women for Nikki organization.

The virtual meeting began with a question and answer session that Peñalosa attended for about 40 minutes, as he was very interested in defining what was the difference in the proposals that Nikki Haley had made, but above all why they were reluctant to support to Donald Trump.

“Many of these people in the group are big supporters of Nikki Haley and want to support her in 2028. They are legitimate Republicans and conservatives, so they don’t want Trump to destroy the party,” said Robert Schwartz, executive director of the Voter Task Force. by Haley.

During the call, Nikki Haley’s followers raised their concerns with Juan Peñalosa about pressing issues such as security on the southern border, where the migration phenomenon continues to be present. The war conflicts that prevail in Ukraine and Israel were also part of his concerns.

Although Nikki Haley appears to have bowed to pressure from the Republican Party by announcing that she will vote for Trump, several of her supporters may not do the same and that is where Democrats pin their hopes on channeling them into their ranks.
