Cruz Azul will play the first leg of the Liga MX final at home, but it will not do so at the Azteca Stadium. The Blue Machine will play at the Ciudad de los Deportes Stadium, which according to the team president is the venue that the fans prefer.
According to Víctor Velásquez, president of Cruz Azul, he highlights that although Azteca sells more tickets, he opts for the team’s happiness in Ciudad de los Deportes.
“Our fans are everything, we feel that the fans are very happy at the Ciudad de los Deportes Stadium, “There is a wonderful family atmosphere and as you say, the Azteca has 2.5 times more tickets, box office, whatever, but we cannot change any of that for the happiness that we can give to our fans,” he commented. Velazquez.
“We feel very happy in the stadium and that really means more, what you can give happiness to your fans and to the players themselves is of greater weight than the money we could obtain at the Azteca Stadium,” he said.
President of Cruz Azul did not expect to reach the final so quickly
Víctor Vélazquez commented that he did not expect Cruz Azul to reach the Liga MX final so quickly after finishing in 16th place last season.
“Let me tell you, I imagined being in the final, no, I would lie to you, because after the 16th place last season, now being in the final, I think that few teams have such a drastic change from one season to another, but this is the result of the work, the commitment of the sports management, of the technical management and all the players,” he declared.
For the leader, they have had good administration that has allowed them to win three trophies in the last four years.
“I think that in four years with three cups that we have lifted, we have implemented and worked a lot throughout the organization, in football, always seeking the best results,” he commented.
