Donald Trump will require Joe Biden to undergo a drug test before the two exchange views and campaign proposals during the first presidential debate.

While attending the Republican Party’s annual Lincoln Reagan Dinner in St. Paul, Minnesota, The 77-year-old tycoon mentioned that he is ready to debate, but before doing so he wants to verify the condition of his opponent.

“I just want to debate this guy, but I’m also going to demand a drug test. I don’t want it to come as the State of the Union. He was high as a kite. I said: ‘Is that Joe up there?’” said the New Yorker regarding the message that the president issued on March 7, on a night in which he was seen as more energetic than he had been showing himself to the citizens.

Even North Carolina Rep. Greg Murphy, co-chair of the Republican doctors’ group, said after the speech that Biden “must have been excited about something that day.” However, he did not go into details about what exactly he was referring to.

The truth is that, in an attempt to make it clear that he is a better option on the ballot over Donald Trump, Biden challenged the Republican to debate on June 27 and on a date to be confirmed for September.

Both debates will be different from those held during previous campaigns, as they will lack an audience and will take place in a television studio. where the microphone will be cut off for those who exceed time in their comments.

Because he has been forced to attend a New York court for weeks where he faces a trial and this has prevented him from being present at campaign events, Trump had asked Biden to debate, but the Democrat had shied away from the commitment until the data emerged. of a survey where he appears in second place in five of six states considered key to defining the winner of the next presidential elections.

And the fact is that, even though the 81-year-old Democrat has achieved a record amount in terms of donations to his campaign, the approval rating for his performance at the head of the White House is experiencing a severe drop; while other surveys indicate that he has also stopped counting on the support of a large sector of the Latino and African-American community who are able to vote.
