The Ministry of Health of the Gaza Strip, governed by the radical Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas, announced this Sunday (05/15/2024) that 35,034 people have died since the start of the war with Israel, unleashed after its terrorist attacks on October 7, and 78,755 people were injured. In the last 24 hours, at least 63 people died and 114 new injuries occurred, the Ministry said in a statement.

The Secretary General of the UN, Antonio Guterres, today again called for an “immediate” ceasefire in the Strip and said that a large-scale operation in Rafah “cannot take place.” “I reiterate my call, the call of the entire world for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire, for the unconditional release of all hostages and for an immediate increase in humanitarian aid,” António Guterres declared in a video address to an international conference of donors in Kuwait. “But a ceasefire will only be the beginning. It will be a long road to recover from the devastation and trauma of this war,” he warned.
