Hispanic is sentenced to 21 years for trafficking drugs from Mexico in Southern California

A Hispanic from Riverside County He was sentenced to 21 years in prison for trafficking drugs from Mexico in the Inland Empirereported the United States Department of Justice.

The authorities said that Timoteo Gómez, 51 years oldheard his sentence this Monday by US District Judge Jesús G. Bernal after remaining in federal custody since his arrest in June 2021.

In January 2022, The Hispanic pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute methamphetamine.

As a result of federal investigations, Gómez and others were found to have purchased the drug from their suppliers in Mexico, as well as in Los Angeles and Riverside counties, from April to August 2020.

The Justice Department said that Gómez and his accomplices smuggled approximately 45 pounds of methamphetamine from Mexico to the United States having as its port of entry in Calexico, and from there moving it to Riverside County.

In May 2020, another accomplice attempted to smuggle into the United States a shipment of just over 90 pounds of drugs from Mexico through the San Ysidro port of entry.

In 2021, authorities charged a total of 19 people in connection with said narcotics smuggling network.

During the investigation, the Justice Department said that, in total, federal law enforcement They confiscated 150 pounds of methamphetamine and $31,035 in cash.

Prosecutors said the case was investigated by the FBI’s Inland Empire Safe Streets Task Force, a joint federal and state gang task force. including members of the DEA, IRS, and Riverside County Police and Sheriff’s departments.

Also collaborating in the investigation were San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, US Customs and Border Protectionthe United States Marshals Service and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
