Planters brand nuts recalled due to possible contamination with listeria

Recently, Planters Honey Roasted Peanuts brand announced that they have been recalled due to possible contamination with listeriapackages of mixed nuts and peanuts, which were distributed in five states in the Dollar Tree and Publix retail chains.

According to the manufacturer, the edibles were produced in the month of April in one of the company’s facilities and after suspecting possible contamination, it was decided to make a voluntary recall.

According to the statement from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the recall includes: 4-ounce packages of Planters Honey Roasted Peanuts and 8.75-ounce cans of Planters Delux Lightly Sated Mixed Nuts.

The FDA also detailed that The states where the products were shipped were Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina with expiration dates of April 11, 2025, with a package UPC code of 2900002097 for peanuts.

As for the mixed nuts, the product indicated that it should be consumed before April 5, 2026, it had a PPC code of 2900001621 on the side of the can.

People sick with the bacteria Listeria can have symptoms such as high fever, headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrheaserious infections can even be fatal for children, the elderly or people with underlying diseases.

Finally, the FDA advised consumers who purchased the recalled products to return them to stores for a refund or throw them away.
