Óscar de la Hoya, promoter of Golden Boy Promotions, He claimed that he already knows how to get into the head of Saúl ‘Canelo’ Álvarez after the strong altercation that both took part in at the final press conference of the fight with Jaime Munguía.

In statements to the press, De la Hoya commented that he was ready to face Canelo Álvarez when he stood up from his seat and indicated that He hopes it worked, got him out of his mind. because that would be detrimental to your concentration.

“I was ready. I was with my fists ready. (Canelo) reacted like that because she can’t handle the truth. I’ve always said it, fighters like him don’t tolerate me being around because the attention stops being on them. And he hates that. So I already know how to get into his head. So let him fight with me, let him turn on. We are not in church, this is a fight,” she said.

“When your head is distracted thinking about me, that’s detrimental to your concentration., for his fight plan. I hope it worked. I always wanted to make peace with him, but that ship has already left. And I tell you what, if there is one person I will never make peace with in my life, it will most likely be him,” she added.

Óscar de la Hoya and Saúl ‘Canelo’ Álvarez almost came to blows at the final press conference after the promoter read a paper where he vents about the Mexican’s constant insults during the promotion of the fight and he asked for respect because his company was the one that made him a world star.

When it was the undisputed 168-pound champion’s turn to speak, the insults on his part continued and He publicly accused De La Hoya of trying to steal him and the fighters he promotes at Golden Boy Promotions.

“For this idiotic attempt of people that I have here to my left, don’t forget that I already came as Canelo to the United States, that he only profited from my name, he never lost a single cent, he only made money. Have you already paid Golovkin what you wanted to steal from him? Yes, very good, but if he hadn’t involved my lawyers, you would steal it from me. That’s the only thing this man does, being a scourge in boxing, stealing from boxers.”Whoever is with him brings in his lawyers because he is surely robbing them, that is the only thing he comes to boxing and steals attention from Munguía, he does not come to promote him,” he declared.

The problems between the man from Guadalajara and De la Hoya began when the Mexican signed a historic agreement of $365 million dollars for his next 11 fights with the DAZN company. According to the undisputed champion, both Golden Boy Promotions and the platform made decisions without him knowing, which is why he made the decision to sue them in 2020 for breach of contract.

The Mexican demanded compensation for more than $280 million in damages, and declared himself a free agent. Although all parties reached an agreement, the relationship between Canelo Álvarez and Óscar De la Hoya It didn’t end in the best way and now every time they have the opportunity they both publicly criticize each other.
