Attention Peacock subscribers, the streaming service’s prices are about to go up. In response to the battle between streamings, Comcast has decided to increase the price of Peacock by $2 for this summer. This price adjustment is one of the ways Comcast’s NBCUniversal will look to take advantage of the Olympic Games in Paris that will be broadcast on television networks and the NBC streaming platform.

Media companies have sought different ways to make streaming a profitable business, since the majority continue to lose money in the company. Although advertising has been a very important part of the strategy, so has the increase in subscription prices. Keep reading to know the new Peacock prices that go into effect this summer.

What will be the price of Peacock subscriptions in summer 2024?

  • Peacock’s ad-supported option will go up $2 to $7.99 per month.
  • Peacock’s ad-free option will go up $2 to $13.99 per month.
  • The price of Peacock’s annual subscription, with ads, will be $79.99
  • The price of Peacock’s annual subscription, without ads, will be $139.99.

The Peacock subscription price increase for new customers will take effect from July 18, while customers who already have an account will receive the new price starting August 7. The Summer Olympic Games start at the end of July.

Peacock: past, present and future

This new increase in subscription prices would be the second that Peacock has made in the last year. Starting in August 2023, the price of Peacock with advertising went from $1 to $5.99 and the price without ads rose to $11.99 per month.

While Comcast has touted Peacock as a bright spot in its recent earnings call, losses from the streaming service have caused earnings problems. Losses were said at the time to peak in 2023 and company executives expect them to narrow in the coming quarters.

So far Peacock has 34 million subscribers who can enjoy a variety of live sports content, from the NFL to the Premier League and often sees a spike in subscriber numbers during high-profile events. Peacock launched in 2020 in time for the Summer Olympics in Tokyowhich had to be postponed until 2021 due to the pandemic.

Last week, executives said they expect Summer Olympics generate record ad revenueas more events will be presented on the NBC broadcast network, in addition to many being exclusive to Peacock streaming.
