Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney continue to invest in football and now they join Eva Longoria as shareholders in Necaxa of Liga MX.
The couple will work with Longoria and fellow investors Al Tylis and Sam Porter to improve the position of the Necaxa Club.
They will also look to grow their profile in international sporting circles at a time of increased demand for football content on television and streaming.
According to Variety, Longoria, the multi-talented Mexican-American, helped bring Reynolds and McElhenney into the investment group.
It is unknown what role both shareholders will have in the Mexican club that will participate in the Liga MX Liguilla.

The Reynolds-McElhenney connection raises the possibility that the Necaxa Club be the focal point of a television documentary series such as “Welcome to Wrexham”.
The FX series, which premieres its third season on May 2, chronicles the revitalization of the miserable city that accompanied the influx of capital for the historic team.
Longoria, Tylis and Porter bought out the club in 2021. Reynolds and McElhenney shocked industry watchers when they agreed a $2.5 million deal to take over Wrexham in November 2020.
Club Necaxa was valued at nine figures in 2021, when a group led by Tylis and Porter and including Longoria bought about 50% of the franchise from the Tinajero family.

The Rayos del Necaxa lost 5-2 against the Rayados de Monterrey, but obtained a pass to the Play-In.
During the match, Eva Longoria shared with the team and was in the box for the 90 minutes. The shareholder was effusive while celebrating a goal.
With this result, Necaxa will face Querétaro next Thursday at home to advance to the next round.
The Águilas await a rival in the first round of the final phase, the quarterfinals, which will take place between Pachucathe Pumas UNAM, Necaxa and the Gallos Blancos del Querétaro, seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth, who will play a play-off this week.
