The speaker of the House of Representatives is convinced that, after the elections, the Republican Party will control Congress and the presidency.
During an interview granted to Fox News Digital prior to participating in the annual retreat that Republican members of the House of Representatives are holding this year at the Greenbrier Resort, in White Sulfur Springs, West Virginia, The 52-year-old politician recognized his interest in continuing to exercise his leadership in the House of Representatives after the presidential elections.
“My intention is to continue being president, to remain in leadership, because we are laying many important foundations right now for the great work we will do, but each day has its own concern. We have a very full, very busy agenda right now. And that is where my focus is,” he expressed.
The Louisiana Republican He dares to predict that the strength of his party will allow them, not only to retain the majority in the House of Representatives, but to increase it, but also to win the Senate and recover the White House.
In this sense, he advanced part of the agenda that would await the conservatives starting in January.
“We would absolutely focus our attention on securing the border and ending the catastrophe that the Biden administration has created. Obviously, we would continue to address the China threat and increase our stature on the world stage.
The White House would focus on that, and in the House we will provide help in every way possible. We would have a very aggressive first 100 days of Congressional agenda and we are quite excited about that prospect,” he emphasized.
It should be noted that Mike Johnson assumed the presidency of the House of Representatives on October 25 of last year after enormous upheaval caused by the impeachment of Kevin McCarthy.
